Today was not the day

Ok... I have no idea how I'm going to manage to sleep tonite. Tomorrow will be the day... The day we find out about how much our lives are about to change! By mid day we should be getting a phone call from Beth, telling us all the important details. How many, date of birth, height, weight, etc... and later in the day we will get the email that will include the photographs! Needless to say, I'll be posting those here and on our web site for sure!!!

no sleep & foot spasms...

So I have to wonder if there is any correlation between being awake for over 24 hours and not being able to walk the full flea market. Thank goodness for Margie and her quick thinking. I was wearing my platform sandles (ok, not the brightest move knowing I'd be walking quite a bit) when I got spasms in both feet so bad I was crying in pain. Margie ran off and bought me a pair of those knock-off Crocs... ugly as the day is long, but I was IMMEDIATELY impressed with the fact that I could actually stand up again after I put them on! Now I know why everyone says that's what we should wear when we go to China! I may just have to break down and get a pair (if I can find something not QUITE as ugly).
In the meantime, I figured out that yet again, another adoption milestone will be happening on an important date in our lives. If we get our referral on Tuesday, which is looking like the most reasonable, then our referral date will be our dear friend Paulie's birthday!!! So... maybe we should start taking bets for "forever day"... Tommy's birthday on 8/23 ? Our anniversary on 9/5 ? can't wait to find out!

Matching Has BEGUN

Our agency sent us an e-mail - Matching has begun!!! this is REALLY early, so we are keeping fingers & toes crossed that it means referrals will be early too! right now, we are counting on referral either July 3rd or 7th but if they have already begun matching, the 3rd is looking really good, and maybe even sooner! Not going to get my hopes up yet...

Congrats Margie & Charlie!

Well, today was Margie & Charlie's wedding. Got a little nervous for a while there when the thunder and lightening started, but turned out just great. What a beautiful day. I managed to perform the ceremony without bawling my eyes out this time so it was all good! Waiting to see the pictures posted on Margie's My Space page...
Now just relaxing at home... watching Penny swim in the pool... we aren't going in because it is looking a little green after all the rain we've had lately, but she sure doesn't seem to mind!

Worked on the ceremony for Margie & Charlie's wedding. Finally have it all written out and I think I'm ready to marry them this Sunday. Should be fun! Just hope the weather cooperates, since I don't think there are too many "indoor" places at Centennial Park!

Happy Birthday Paul McCartney

So I thought this was a good day to actually start this blog... Since I am such a major Beatles fan, I picked Paul's birthday! I really should have gotten this going long ago. We are now only weeks away from FINALLY getting our referral!!! It's been 3 long years.
Now I'm trying to get everything done that I should have been doing the past couple of years! I've been tackling 1 project at a time, like clearing all the junky towels out of the linen closet, buying the wood to finish the floor in the attic crawl space... you know, all those fun jobs that we just never got around to! My friends are telling me it's because I'm "Nesting". Whatever... I just know I'm getting a bit NUTS trying to get my house totally prepared for our new addition(s).
Today, I had the fun and excitement of cleaning out Fred's tank. So my public service announcement is this: If your child (or husband, or wife, or whatever) comes home with a cute little tiny turtle and wants to keep it... RUN... throw it back into the canal that it came from! Mind you, I am the guilty party here. I'm the one that found Fred on the driveway and decided "gee, wouldn't this make a cute little pet?" Well I wish someone would have warned me that this cute little half-dollar sized turtle was going to turn into something the size of a basketball! he is now in a 55 gallon tank that isn't big enough for him. We just can't afford anything bigger! I just may have to turn him over to the local kids zoo or something... somewhere close enough where I can still visit him, because honestly, I really like him. He is certainly our quietest pet!

Our Story

My photo
We are the proud parents of a beautiful little girl. I have not stopped smiling since the moment they placed her in my arms. We adopted her Sept 2008 and it's been nothing but wonderful! She is the best reason to open my eyes every day! Currently living in SW Florida. I've also become a MAJOR Twilight junkie, so now I'm told I'm a TWI-MOM & I LOVE it!
